Clinical experience in pacemaker implantation has shown that moderate compression of the pacemaker pocket may result in a decreased incidence of post-operative hematoma formation. In addition, considerable literature demonstrates that cooling of an operative incision reduces capillary blood flow, thereby decreasing both incisional pain and swelling.
Pocket Pal conveniently combines these two principles in a single, unique device. An elastic and Velcro harness provides moderate, direct incisional compression while decreasing patient upper extremity motion. The compression apron houses a pouch designed to position a cooling gel pack directly over the fresh pocket.
